CUSTOM DRUMS, BUILT AROUND YOUR BRIEF
Your instrument starts with a conversation.
We design and build every custom instrument by hand around the sound, feel, sizes and finish that suit you, the individual.
Tell us what’s on your mind and we’ll make it a reality.
We discuss each custom instrument with you and provide an individual quotation; custom builds are not sold directly online. Your quotation will reflect the agreed construction, sizes, finish and hardware, together with delivery and the current workshop schedule.
Built around the way you play
You can begin with a clear idea or a general direction. We can discuss the choices that genuinely affect the sound, response, appearance and practical use of your finished instrument.
Sound and response
Tell us how you want the instrument to feel, where it will be used and the musical role it needs to fulfil.
Sizes and configuration
Whether you need a snare, a complete kit or a less conventional configuration, we can develop your product around your setup, transport needs and playing style.
Shell and construction
We will explain the suitable construction choices and how they relate to the response, tuning range and character you require.
Finish and hardware
We can work with you to explore the finish and hardware combinations that best suit your instrument, whether you prefer a timeless, traditional look or something more distinctive.
A clear process from concept to finished instrument
1. Tell us your requirements
Complete the enquiry form with the instrument type, sizes, sound, finish, budget and required date you have in mind. Reference images are welcome.
2. Develop the specification
We will review your brief, ask any necessary questions and help turn your choices into a complete specification that reflects your choices.
3. Receive a quotation
We will send you a written quotation confirming the specification, price, payment stages, estimated build time and delivery or collection arrangements.
4. Confirm the build
Once you approve the specification and quotation, we will confirm your order and schedule it in the workshop.
5. Build, finish and test
We build and finish your instrument to the agreed specification, then assemble, tune, test and adjust it before it leaves our workshop.
6. Delivery or collection
We will prepare your completed instrument for the delivery or collection arrangements confirmed with your order.
A realistic workshop schedule
Custom lead times depend on the instrument, finish, materials and current workshop schedule. We will provide a realistic estimate with your quotation and keep you informed if the schedule changes.
Current custom-order lead times are normally approximately 6 to 8 weeks from final specification and order confirmation.

What to include
You do not need to have every technical detail decided before getting in touch. The most helpful starting points are the type of instrument you require (such as a snare drum or drum kit), the sound and response you are looking for, any preferred sizes (if known), how and where you intend to use it, your approximate budget and any important deadlines.
If you have photographs, finish references or examples of sounds you like, include them with the enquiry or mention them in your message.
Start your custom order
Share with us what you already know. If some details are undecided, we are here to help.
Fields marked as 'required' must be completed. A general direction is enough to begin; you do not need to decide every technical detail before contacting us.
We will use the information you provide to review and respond to your enquiry. Please do not send sensitive personal information. See our Privacy and Cookie Policy for details.
Not sure which route you need?
If you are unsure whether you need a custom build or one of our fixed products, share the brief and we will point you in the right direction.
